City after city, state after state, it never fails no matter what church or event I travel to, I get asked this one question- “How will I know He’s the one?”  I understand that it can be difficult when you’re in a position and want to know everything, but the first thing you must do is decide that you’re going to trust God. I know you’re saying well I do trust God, but is God going to tell me yes or no?
Relinquishing your trust over to God puts you in a place where you don’t have to worry or stress about this question. It puts you in a mindset to relax because you know that God has your best interest, and He’s going to take care of you. Now sweetheart, sometimes we know the answer to this question without asking anyone. You know that he’s just not the one. Deep down on the inside of you, you know you have no peace about it. Let’s not hit the spiritual side when we know in the natural that he doesn’t treat you right and is always trying to get you to do things that don’t line up with the word. Amos 3:3 says, Can two people walk together without agreeing on the direction?  I’m sure you know you shouldn’t be asking this question if he’s not leading you toward Jesus. If he’s not leading you toward Jesus he’s leading you toward Satan- there are only two ways, no in between.  The fact that you both like chicken tacos is irrelevant.  What we should be addressing first is whether or not he’s a Christian? Does he go to church on a consistent basis? Does he serve in ministry? These are a few questions to ask before “How will I know?”  Don’t stay in a relationship that you know has a dead end. It will only leave you more hurt and angry; then you’ll want to blame God for the consequences of the decisions you made. GET OUT NOW!
There are also situations where the guy you’re dating seems perfect, but we still can’t tell if he’s putting on a front (show, game or trick). You know the one that goes to church, worships God, reads the Word- just does everything he’s supposed to be doing.  It’s just seems too good to be true. This is when we use one of my favorite weapons God has given us- DISCERNMENT!  Say it with me, “discernment”.  Discernment is perception in the absence of judgement; with a view to obtaining spiritual direction. Ladies, it’s key that you be filled with the Holy Spirit. He will lead and guide you. Maybe you think this is too much, or too deep; but your life is too important to allow some joker to come in and mess you up. Your purpose here on earth is too big for you to play games with “Mr. I’m Faking Saved.”  You’re worth someone putting in the real work.  Well, how do you get out? This is where you use wisdom! I’ve never been into “burning bridges” in any relationship because you never know when you may need to cross back over, but hear me clearly this doesn’t mean you play in the middle of the bridge until everything is right. No, this means I’m giving you your space while you give me mine, and if it’s supposed to happen  then so be it.
Let me circle back to the beginning, “trusting God will put you in the mindset to relax.” Let’s do it together right now, say this out loud- “God I trust you with my entire life. No one will ever come between me and you. I thank you now for my spouse, that he is everything I need. Give me the strength to relax and trust you in this season.  Amen!”  I promise you, you can do this!  Ask any married woman and she will tell you the answer to this question by responding with “you’ll just know.”
Always praying for you,
Mrs. B
